Welcome to my adventures!

Hello, my name is Diane, and I’m an American who moved to Germany.  I’ve always wanted to live in Europe but I was only stationed stateside in 20 years with the Air Force.  But apparently, it’s never too late!  I used to half-jokingly say, “Someday, after my kids graduate from high school, I want to move to Germany.”  I mentioned Germany specifically mostly because I knew there were many US government jobs there, and I’d visited many times (mostly for work) so I knew I liked it.  Ultimately I’d like to see as much of Europe as I can.

As they say, be careful what you wish for!  A friend happened to see a job advertisement that sounded perfect for me in Stuttgart.  I applied the last day the announcement was open, thinking, what the heck — I might not even get hired, and if I do, I don’t have to accept. The rest is history!  Here I am.

The main purpose of this blog is to share my experiences with family, friends, and former co-workers, especially those who don’t have Facebook accounts where I post many of my pictures.  I also intend to use it as a sort of online diary to record some of my thoughts as well as my photos and travelogue.  If other people get some information about what it’s like to live in Germany or ideas of where to travel, that’s a bonus – feel free to ask questions and it might spark a future blog post that I hadn’t thought of.
